Drama Workhouse is a charity based in Brent, North West London that specialises in making drama accessible and using it to promote self development. The charity plans to function out of the 11th Century St Andrew’s Old Church – Brent’s only Grade I listed building.

Kaye James, Director explains, “I discovered St Andrew’s Old Church 10 years ago and was blown away by its historical pedigree. I thought it was tragic Brent’s only Grade 1 listed building was inaccessible to the public. Reinvigorating the building became my personal mission. I wanted to make the church accessible as a historical site, a community meeting place and a venue for drama and other community led events.”

TCA were brought on board to support the charity’s bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and project manage the refurbishment of the Church.

“Having no construction experience I needed an organisation I could trust to guide the project forward.”

“When I met Julian from The Clarkson Alliance I felt he instantly ‘got’ where I was coming from and understood what I wanted the project to achieve. His listening skills are very, very good! He made working with The Clarkson Alliance an easy decision.”

“Julian is knowledgeable, thorough and has brought an objective perspective to the project. He has come up with questions I hadn’t thought of and ably fielded enquires from our stakeholders.”

“The Clarkson Alliance have been incredibly professional throughout the project. They give you total confidence that every “I” is dotted and “T” crossed. Knowing my project is in such capable hands is immensely reassuring.”
