The Clarkson Alliance has carried out the design, procurement and construction of the new £3.4m Rayleigh Leisure Centre for Rochford District Council.

The new build facility sits on 3.2 acres of an 11-acre development site which was once occupied by a school. It forms a focal point for the council’s mix-use community regeneration plans.

The building is an elegantly designed, 3,600m2 steel frame structure with a sports hall, squash courts, aerobics studio, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, indoor bowls and a crèche.

The project was managed using the highly structured Prince2 approach and consultants engaged using the NEC suite of contracts.

‘It has been very professional’, said Jeremy Bourne. ‘All of TCA’s consultants were very knowledgeable in their area, very efficient throughout and the end product was very good”
