Stanley Spencer Gallery

The Stanley Spencer Gallery in the pretty Berkshire village of Cookham was completely renovated in 2007 ahead of the fiftieth anniversary of the artist’s death.

The collection was under threat but as a result of The Clarkson Alliances management of this complex project, the works of Sir Stanley Spencer have been preserved in a modern gallery environment for all to enjoy.
The renovated Methodist chapel now has a mezzanine floor which has increased the display and viewing space by 50%, and incorporates a novel picture hanging system which can be easily operated by the volunteers who look after the collection.
